When someone asks ChatGPT "who can fix a boiler in [town] today," asks Gemini for a dentist nearby that takes new patients, or asks Perplexity where to book a haircut or a table for six on Friday, the businesses those assistants name get the call or the booking. AI SEO for local businesses is the work of making your company one of those named answers, in assistants and in Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, while keeping the local foundations that still decide everything: a complete and accurate Google Business Profile, consistent name, address and phone details across directories, genuine reviews, correct LocalBusiness schema.org markup, and service, menu or price pages that state plainly what you do, where and for whom. AI SEO Packages measures where you stand on the prompts your customers actually use and works the inputs each month. Start with a free AI SEO audit.

The problem local businesses are facing

Local customers increasingly ask a question instead of typing a keyword, and the question includes their situation: "emergency plumber near [area] open now," "dentist in [town] that does same-day crowns and takes [insurer]," "salon near me good with curly hair," "family-friendly Italian restaurant in [neighbourhood] with parking." Assistants answer with a short list of named businesses drawn from Google Business Profile data, reviews, directories and the businesses' own pages. If you are not in that list, the customer never searches for you. Most local businesses have the raw material but not the structure: an incomplete or outdated Google Business Profile, a different phone number on three directories, a website with one "Services" page that says "we do it all," a menu or price list in a PDF or an image, and reviews that are never answered. Each of those gaps makes engines less confident in who you are, what you do and where you do it, and confidence is what gets you named.

How locals use AI to choose a business

The prompts differ by sector but share a shape. Home services: "[trade] near me open now," "how much does [job] cost in [city]," "licensed [trade] in [area] with good reviews," "who repairs [brand or system]." Dental and allied health: "dentist in [town] accepting new patients," "[clinic] hours and whether they take [insurer]," "emergency dentist near me," "what does a [procedure] involve" (which we route to the clinician). Salons and spas: "best salon for [service or hair type] in [area]," "[salon] prices for [service]," "spa near me with [treatment]." Restaurants and cafés: "restaurants in [neighbourhood] with [dietary option]," "is [restaurant] good for groups," "[restaurant] menu and prices," "places open late near [landmark]." Engines cite businesses whose Google Business Profile, site and directory data agree, whose reviews are recent and answered, and whose pages state services, prices where appropriate, hours, service areas, licences and specialities as plain, crawlable text. "Quality you can trust" gives an engine nothing; "licensed and insured [trade], serving [areas], same-day callouts, typical [job] from [price]" with a matching profile gives it a reason to name you.

What AI SEO covers for local services

Google Business Profile as the core entity. Categories, services, attributes, hours, service areas, photos, Q&A and posts kept complete and current, because this is the single source engines lean on most for local answers. We audit and fix it, and we align your website to it so the two never disagree.

Entity (NAP) consistency across directories. Name, address, phone, categories and hours are checked and corrected across the directories engines use in your market, including sector-specific ones (trade directories, dental and health directories, booking platforms, restaurant guides).

Reviews, handled properly. Recent, genuine reviews and owner responses are a strong signal. We set up a steady, policy-compliant process for inviting reviews from real customers and responding to them. For dental and health practices the process respects privacy rules. No fake or incentivised reviews, ever.

Service, menu and price pages engines can cite. One page per service or service area for home services, with licence and insurance statements where required; treatment and provider pages for dental practices, drafted for clinician review; service and price menus for salons; menus with dietary labels, hours and booking details for restaurants, all as crawlable HTML rather than PDFs or images. We mark these up with the right LocalBusiness subtype schema (Plumber, HVACBusiness, Dentist, HairSalon, Restaurant and so on), aligned to the visible text.

Classic fundamentals. Crawlability, indexation, mobile performance and Core Web Vitals, internal linking between location, service and FAQ pages, and AI-crawler access for the pages that should be citable.

Our method

1) Baseline audit — we test the real prompts your customers use for your services and area across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Overviews, record which businesses are named and from which sources, and review your Google Business Profile, directory data, reviews, site and schema. 2) Diagnosis — we identify profile gaps, inconsistencies, missing or unreadable service and price content, review process weaknesses and technical issues. 3) Build — we fix the profile and directory data, restructure or draft service, menu and price content (with clinician review for health practices), implement schema and set up the review process. 4) Measure and iterate — we re-run the same prompt set monthly and report share of voice, accuracy and next-month actions.

What you receive (deliverables)

  • An AI Visibility Audit for your services and area: prompt-by-prompt results, baseline mention and citation rates, share of voice, and the sources engines rely on locally.
  • A Google Business Profile and directory consistency report with every discrepancy listed.
  • A prioritised fix list tied to real service, location, menu or price pages.
  • Implemented profile, directory, schema and content fixes plus a review-process setup (in Build engagements).
  • A monthly report with trends, new and lost citations, accuracy notes (what engines say about your hours, services and prices) and next-month actions.

Which package fits a local business

Most single-location businesses start on Starter (~$500/mo): the audit and baseline in one or two engines, Google Business Profile and directory fixes, core schema and a focused stream of service or menu page work. Multi-location businesses, practices with several providers, or businesses in competitive city markets with named rivals usually fit Growth (~$1,500/mo), which adds all-engine tracking with competitor share of voice, broader entity cleanup and a monthly strategy call. Franchises and regional chains with many locations generally need Enterprise (custom). All pricing is indicative, confirmed before publishing. Use the package recommender, compare tiers on the comparison page, or see the AI SEO packages overview. Dental practices may also want the healthcare page; small businesses in general can read the small business guide.

How we measure success

Share of voice (how often engines name your business versus named local competitors across a fixed prompt set covering "near me," cost, hours, speciality and comparison questions), mention rate, citation rate, the accuracy of what engines say about your hours, services and prices, and the sources engines rely on. Where you grant access, we connect this to Google Business Profile actions (calls, direction requests, bookings), organic sessions and enquiry or booking actions on your site. Because AI answers vary by run, user and location, we test repeatedly, from your service area, and report dated ranges rather than a single snapshot.

Risks & limitations

We cannot guarantee that any engine will recommend your business, rank your profile or deliver a specific number of calls or bookings; we improve and measure the inputs that make accurate citation more likely. Local AI answers depend heavily on review volume and recency, which build over time and must come from real customers. Progress depends on how quickly agreed profile, content and site changes are made and on your participation in the review process. For dental and health practices, patient-facing content needs clinician review and no clinical claims are made. Engine behaviour and local result formats change, so this is an ongoing discipline rather than a one-off fix.

Evidence & team

[E-E-A-T — fill with real data only: who leads AI SEO Packages, relevant experience in local SEO and AI search, credentials, LinkedIn, and genuine, permissioned case studies once measured. Do not publish invented call counts, booking figures or client names.]

Pricing, timelines, what we can and can’t promise.

Local SEO works on how your business appears in Google's map results and local organic results: Google Business Profile, consistent name, address and phone details across directories, reviews, LocalBusiness schema.org markup and location or service pages. AI SEO for local businesses includes all of that and adds a second layer: being named accurately when people ask assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Overviews or AI Mode who to call, where to book or where to eat nearby. That layer is measured as share of voice across a fixed set of real local prompts. The good news is that the two layers rely on the same inputs: assistants draw heavily on profile data, reviews and clear service pages, so the local fundamentals done properly are most of the AI work, with tracking and extractable content added on top.
