AI SEO is usually priced as a monthly retainer, because the work of being named accurately in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode is continuous: engines change, competitors publish, and share of voice has to be re-measured every month. What you pay depends on scope, competition, how many engines and competitors you track, how much content and citation work is included, and whether compliance review is involved. AI SEO Packages publishes three indicative tiers so you can budget before you talk to anyone: Starter around $500 per month, Growth around $1,500 per month and Enterprise priced custom to scope. All figures are indicative, confirmed before publishing or signing. If you want a recommendation rather than a price list, start with the package recommender or a free AI SEO audit.

The problem with most AI SEO pricing

Observationally, a lot of AI SEO and GEO pricing is opaque: "contact us" buttons, bundles that mix AI visibility with link packages, or retainers whose scope is described in adjectives rather than deliverables. That makes it hard to compare providers and easy to overpay for things you do not need, such as tracking across every engine when your buyers use two, or large citation campaigns when your directory data is still wrong. It also hides exclusions until the invoice. Because AI SEO is newer than classic SEO, buyers have fewer reference points and more exposure to inflated promises. This page does the opposite: it explains how the work is priced in general, which factors genuinely move the cost, and then shows our three tiers with their inclusions, exclusions and indicative prices. We do not quote competitor prices or "market averages" here because we have not sourced them and will not invent them.

How AI SEO is priced: the models you will see

Monthly retainer. The most common model and the one we use. A fixed monthly fee covers a defined scope of tracking, content, technical and entity work and reporting. It suits AI SEO because the measurement and iteration are ongoing.

Project or one-off audit. A fixed fee for a baseline audit or a specific build, such as schema and crawl-access fixes. Useful as a starting point; we offer the audit free, with the understanding that the ongoing work is where the value compounds.

Hourly or day rate. Common with consultants. Flexible, but hard to budget and it rewards time rather than outcomes.

Performance-linked pricing. Fees tied to rankings, citations or leads. We do not offer this, because AI answers are non-deterministic and no honest provider controls whether an engine names a client; pricing tied to that outcome tends to encourage either manipulation or creative reporting.

Software subscriptions. AI-visibility tracking tools charge per seat or per prompt set. They measure but do not execute; a service includes both, which is the main reason a service costs more than a tool.

What drives the cost of AI SEO

  • Scope of tracking. How many engines (one or two versus all six), how many prompts, how many named competitors for share of voice, and how often tests run.
  • Content volume. How many answer-first pages are created or optimized each month, and whether they need subject-matter interviews.
  • Entity and citation work. How many directories, profiles and third-party sources need correcting or earning, and whether a larger citation or PR programme is required.
  • Competition and market size. Crowded national categories need sustained effort; a single-town service business needs a bounded set of prompts.
  • Compliance review. Healthcare, legal and fintech content needs clinician, compliance or financial-promotion approval, which adds coordination time.
  • Markets and languages. Multi-market or multi-language programmes multiply everything above.
  • Technical state of the site. Crawl blocks, missing schema and poor Core Web Vitals add foundation work before AI visibility work can land.
  • Reporting and strategy time. Whether you want a report by email or a monthly strategy call with decisions made together.

Full scope for each tier is on the Starter, Growth and Enterprise pages, and side by side on the comparison page. Everything carries forward if you move up a tier.

What is never included in the price

No tier includes a guarantee of rankings, citations or AI recommendations, because no honest provider can sell one. No tier includes fake reviews, paid placements disguised as editorial, or content that makes claims you cannot substantiate. Growth and Starter exclude large-scale digital PR, multi-market and multi-language programmes, programmatic AI SEO at scale and a dedicated strategist; those are Enterprise scope. Advertising spend, software licences you choose to hold yourself, and development work on your site beyond the agreed fixes are quoted separately if needed.

Method and deliverables behind the price

Whatever the tier, the method is the same: a baseline audit testing real buyer prompts across the engines and recording share of voice against named competitors; a diagnosis of content, schema, entity and crawl gaps; a build phase that creates and restructures answer-first content, aligns structured data and corrects entity information; and monthly re-measurement. Deliverables are tied to specific pages, prompts and sources so you can see what the fee bought. Industry-specific delivery, including compliance workflows, is described on our pages for healthcare, legal, fintech, real estate, SaaS and local services.

How we measure whether the spend is working

Share of voice (how often engines name you versus named competitors across a fixed prompt set), mention rate, citation rate, citation-source distribution, and the accuracy and sentiment of what engines say about you; and, with analytics and Search Console connected, impressions, clicks and qualified actions on the pages we work on. Because AI answers vary by run, user and location, we test repeatedly and report dated ranges. Each monthly report ends with numbers and a prioritised action list, and it says plainly when a prompt is not moving, so you can judge the retainer on evidence.

Risks & limitations

We cannot guarantee that any tier will produce a specific ranking, citation, AI recommendation or return on spend; we improve and measure the inputs that make those outcomes more likely and report honestly. Results depend on your starting authority, your competition, how quickly agreed changes ship and, in regulated sectors, your approval cycle. A lower tier working fewer inputs will usually move more slowly than a higher one, and some categories need Enterprise-level effort to move at all. Prices on this page are indicative and are confirmed before publishing or signing; they are not quotes. Engine behaviour changes, so this is an ongoing discipline rather than a one-off purchase.

FAQ

Straight answers.

Pricing, timelines, what we can and can’t promise.

It depends on scope, and anyone who gives you a single number without asking about your business is guessing. The main cost drivers are how many engines, prompts and competitors are tracked, how much answer-first content is created each month, how much entity and citation work is needed, how competitive your category is, whether compliance review is involved and how many markets or languages you operate in. Our own indicative tiers are Starter at around $500 per month for a foundation and baseline in one or two engines, Growth at around $1,500 per month for ongoing content, entity and citation work with all-engine tracking and competitor share of voice, and Enterprise priced custom to scope for multi-market, multi-product or heavily regulated organisations.
